Transformative research, education, and praxis models embody E-SToPP’s mission and vision of eradicating the school-to-prison pipeline.
Our transformative research, education, and praxis models open up avenues in the public forum for the community to unearth, discuss, debate, and seek to change unjust practices, conditions, policies, and systems that disproportionately disenfranchise youth into the school-to-prison pipeline.
E-SToPP pursues its transformative research, education, and praxis models in seven targeted Miami-Dade County areas:
- Carol City, Opa-Locka, Miami Gardens
- Brownsville, Liberty City, Overtown
- Coconut Grove

Transformative Research Model
Our research goal is to transform disjointed practices and conditions into effective educational trajectories supported by an integrated continuum of care for youth in the school-to-prison pipeline.
Transformative Education Model
Our education goal is to transform dismal educational experiences and settings into “safe haven” schools and educational opportunities for young people who are caught in the school-to-prison pipeline.
Transformative Praxis Model
Our praxis goal is to empower and prepare teachers, mentors, interns, and other involved adults to act as change agents who will, in turn, empower and prepare youth who are caught in the school-to-prison pipeline to act as change agents, attend school consistently, succeed academically and socially, prepare for successful reentry, stay away from crime, and graduate from high school successfully.
